Organisations managing RDPE
The Forestry Commission
The Forestry Commission is the government department responsible
for forestry in Great Britain. Our mission is to protect and expand
Britain's woodlands and forests and increase their value to society
and the environment. We support woodland owners with grants,
administration of the regulations relating to tree felling,
provision of free advice and increasingly work with a range of
partners to help establish sustainable markets for woodland
produce. We also manage publicly owned woodland in the region,
carry out research and assist the Government in developing forestry
policy. To find out more visit www.forestry.gov.uk/southwestengland.
Natural England
Natural England is the Government's statutory advisor on the
natural environment. Natural England is working towards the
delivery of four strategic outcomes, which together deliver on our
purpose to conserve, enhance and manage the natural environment for
the benefit of current and future generations.
Although our purpose is defined by legislation, our strategic
direction sets out the environmental outcomes and objectives we
want to see delivered. We have developed four key outcomes that
guides all of our work. These are closely linked and together cover
our broad remit. They are:
Outcome 1: A healthy natural environment
Outcome 2: People are inspired to value and
conserve the natural environment
Outcome 3: Sustainable use of the natural
environment
Outcome 4: A secure environmental future
Natural England provides funding for farmers and other land
managers to reward them for managing the land in ways that improve
the environment.
More information on Natural England's remit can be found at
