Courses at the Rural Business School
The Rural Business School will be running a variety of courses
during the Autumn, including the Basis Certificate in Crop
Protection and the Basis Nutrient Management Planning Course. For

Green energy for a living landscape Conference
Taking place on Saturday 11 September at Stockland Village
Hall.
The Blackdown Hills AONB Partnership warmly invites you to attend a
conference on renewable energy. The programme will feature speakers
representing local organisations who will share their experiences
of installing a range of green energy products. There will be
expert presentations on the pros and cons of different
technologies, and the opportunities created by the landscape of the
Blackdown Hills.The AONB will also launch a specially commissioned
report on the potential for renewable energy in the area.

Exmoor Soils and Grassland Event
On Wednesday 15 September the Exmoor Hill Farm Project will be
holding an event at Ashwick Manor Farm, near Dulverton. The eveent
will run from 10:30 - 15:30, to include lunch.
Topics will include:
- soil management
- soil nutrition
- use of manures and fertlisers
- maximising grass growth
- grass utilisation
- improving forage quality
Speakers will include Lachie MacLachlan (MVF Beef and Sheep
specialist) and Charlie Morgan (Independent grassland specialist -
GrassMaster). The evnt will include presentations and farm walks,
and information from Natural England on the Soils for Profit
Inititaive and Soil Protection Review.

Making it Local Autumn update event and funding workshop
Taking place 6pm - 8pm on Tuesday 12 October at Kentisbeare
Village Hall.
