Work starts on ambitious vet surgery project

July 2010

One of the Isles of Scilly Local Action Groups most ambitious projects to date - the development of a Veterinary Surgery for the Isles of Scilly celebrated the start of their ambitious £163,000 project on the 19th of June with the planting of two commemorative flame trees donated by the world famous Tresco Abbey Gardens.

The trees were planted by both the Chairman of the Council of the Isles of Scilly and the proud winners of the recently held dog show. The project is due to finish in early 2011 and can be seen as the first link in a longer chain of projects that could see the provision of a local abattoir; a revitalised, expanded and thriving farming sector; a move towards greater food sustainability; a reduction in food miles and the creation of a distinct product for the benefit of tourists and locals alike.
